Morgan Road Middle ditched the orange and blue every Friday throughout the month of October and turned its building pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Each Friday, students and staff were encouraged to wear pink to school, and MRM Student Council members collected donations at the door to raise money for breast cancer awareness, prevention, and research for a cure.
The school closed out the month with a Pink Out on October 31, hosting 93Q on-air personality Rick Roberts’ Real Men Wear Pink/ Taking Shots At Breast Cancer campaign.
During MRM’s Pink Out, Roberts challenged eighth-graders Malia Daniels and Evan Little to a free throw shooting contest. Roberts goal was to raise $7,500 for the American Cancer Society during the month of October, and MRM helped him exceed that goal by collecting $1,360. Roberts said that is the largest single donation he has received since starting the campaign in 2020.
